MIAP Ceremony

Two Perch Base members, Webmaster Dan Marks and Joe Trotter, attended the Missing In America Project (MIAP) Procession and Interment Ceremony at the National Cemetery of Arizona on January 21, 2026.
The Missing In America Project (Arizona) led this Inurnment with Honors of 19 Forgotten and Unclaimed American Veterans and 2 spouses from Maricopa County, Arizona.
The Purpose of Missing In America Project (MIAP) is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. To provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes like these 19 brave veterans and 2 spouses of Arizona.

The gent on the right is Gudgeon Base member Brooks King. He came down from Prescott Valley, AZ, to ride in the motorcycle procession from the Eastlake Mortuary in downtown Phoenix to the National Cemetery of Arizona.

The gent on the left is also a Submarine Veteran. Sorry, but I didn't get his name. He is not affiliated with any USSVI base. He also rode in the motorcycle procession from the Eastlake Mortuary in downtown Phoenix to the National Cemetery of Arizona.

Each urn was offloaded, with honors, from the hearse to an awaiting pallbearer.

The MIAP Ceremony began with a welcome by Mark Wells, the AZ MIAP State Coordinator.

The Ceremony included a rifle volley and Taps.

The American Flag being folded for presentation.

The Honor Guard Team Leader presented the folded flag to a family member on behalf of the President of the United States, the United States Military, and a grateful nation.

The Keynote Speaker was Andres Jaime, National Committeeman for the American Legion, as well as a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.
