Perch Base Submarine Veterans (USSVI) participated in the USS Phoenix (SSN-702) Cold War Monument Concept Reveal on the "Submarine Force Birthday," Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix, Arizona. Follow this LINK to view the "BIG REVEAL" event.
Following the "BIG REVEAL" event, a model of the USS Phoenix (SSN-702) was installed in the Phoenix City Hall. On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Perch Base Webmaster, Dan Marks, went to Phoenix City Hall to locate and view the USS Phoenix model.
Phoenix City Hall is located on the northeast corner of 3rd Avenue and Washington Street in downtown Phoenix. If anyone else wants to view the model, you need to have a appointment via the city administrative staff and you will need to pass through Security, which includes an x-ray for carried items and passing through a metal detector, similar to airports.
The model is in the first floor lobby on the west side of City Hall. My apologies regarding the photo quality because the model is in a plastic case which was highly reflective.
