Perch Base Life and Holland Club Member Wayne Hembree, E-4(SS), passed away onto Eternal Patrol, Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Our condolences to his wife Sandie, family and friends.
Services will be held on December 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM, at Gilbert Memorial Park,
2100 E Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297
Immediately following service the family invites you to join them for a Luncheon at the LDS Church at:
2700 E Galveston Street, Gilbert, AZ 85295.
Wayne joined the Navy in 1969 and left in 1972. He served and qualified on submarines on the USS Sam Rayburn (SSBN‑635) in 1971.
Wayne had been a member of Perch Base USSVI since January 5, 2017.

Five Perch Base members attended the Celebration of Life at Gilbert Memorial Park, per the attached Sailing List.
The Celebration of Life included taps and presentation of the Flag by the Naval Reserve and the presentation of the Eternal Patrol Certificate by Governor Joy of Perch Base.

After the Navy, Wayne worked in the steel fabrication business, starting as a welder and working his way up to an estimator.

Wayne C. Hembree was born December 9, 1949 in Tempe, Arizona. Wayne was called home on November 27, 2024 from Gilbert, Arizona. There to meet him was his Mother Dorothy, Father Frank, Brothers Frankie Joe, Jamie, Donald Ray and sister Joyce (Hembree) White. Wayne is survived by his wife Sandie, Son Tannen, daughter in law Vanessa, Brother Terry and Sisters Margie (Marko) and Linda (Wilmot). Also many Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews.
Wayne grew up working on the farm, after graduating Hish School he joined the Navy and was stationed on the East Coast where he met his wife Sandie. They lived life to the fullest for 52 years. Wayne was a wonderful husband and Father, life was always an adventure with him. Wayne worked at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on an apprenticeship program which is equivalent to 4 years of college. After moving back to Arizona Wayne worked in the Steel Construction Business and loved his work as much as his family. Wayne is greatly missed.
Celebration of Life will be held December 20, 2024 at 11AM at 2100 E Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297.
