Sierra Verde Elementary
Perch Base took the USS Phoenix float to the Sierra Verde Elementary School for a static display on
Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Sierra Verde, a Science, Technology, Engineering And Math (STEAM) school, conducted a Veterans Appreciation Day program.
They fed us breakfast then held an assembly to show their appreciation for Veterans and their patriotism. They really treated us like VIPs!

The Perch Base members came in early, before the students arrived for class, to setup the USS Phoenix (SSN-702) float.

Dale Holland towed the boat in and out of the event, but we didn't happen to get him in this group photo.
The Arizona Patriot Guard Riders also displayed their rides at the event.
The Arizona Military Vehicle Collector Club also displayed some of their vehicles.
The Sierra Verde Principal, Mr. Brittany Hughes welcomed the Veterans in attendance as they fed us breakfast prior to the assembly.
After Breakfast, they led us into the student assembly.
The entire student body, from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade was present.
Several students from different grade levels gave patriotic speeches about what veterans mean to them.
The student choir sang patriotic songs.
One of the Veterans gave a presentation to the students.
The student orchestra played patriotic music.
Many of the students prepared and distributed Thank You cards to the Veterans.
