ASSM Public Opening
With construction of the Arizona Silent Service Memorial (ASSM) complete, the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) conducted an inspection on Friday, September 25th, 2020, with Marcus Hensley, ETCM(SS) (ret), the ASSM Co-Chairman. I asked Marcus if it was as scary as an ORSE (Operational Reactor Safeguards Examination,) TRE (Tactical Readiness Examination,) or your qual board! Marcus compared it to an ORSE! The inspection went well and the ADOA accepted the Memorial.
The following Monday, September 28, 2020, the ASSM Committee conducted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony, or as is the traditional greeting of a Submarine returning home to Pearl Harbor from a successful WestPac mission with a Hawaiian Lei instead of the ribbon.
