OBITUARY
Perch Base Holland Club and Life Member Cdr. Eugene Bradford (Brad) Veek (USN, ret) departed on Eternal Patrol on June 16, 2020.
Our condolences to his brother Ed Veek, daughter Joan Weisenstein and the rest of the family.
Captain Veek was a dual member with Perch Base and primary member and Plankowner of Gudgeon base. He previously served as Gudgeon Base Eagle Scout Chair,
Base Chaplain, Base Librarian, Base Treasurer, Base Storekeeper and Base Vice Commander.

Captain Veek qualified on the on the USS Tang (SS‑563) in 1960 and also was assigned to the USS Greenfish (SS‑351).
He served as Executive Officer on the USS Bashaw (AGSS‑241) from July 1967, to April 1969, and was Commanding Officer
of the USS Tirante (SS‑420) from 3 April 1971, to 22 December 1972.
He joined the Navy in 1952 and retired in 1976. Brad was unusual in the fact that he was qualified for command of submarine AND
surface ships. Captain Veek also was the Head of Undersea Warfare Branch, NFOIO at Ft. Meade, MD from 1969-1971.
