Perch Base took the USS Phoenix float to the Phoenix, Arizona, Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 11, 2019.
CAPT Pete Lumianski, USN(ret), one of the USS PHOENIX COLD WAR MONUMENT Board of Directors, "enlisted" a handful of teens to walk with us along the parade route and hand out flyers to install the USS Phoenix Sail and Rudder in the Steele Indian School Park.

This Marine along the parade route was wearing a Purple Heart cap from his Vietnam combat. I had to stop and say "Thank your for your sacrifice," and asked him if I could take his picture. We then saluted each other.
