Perch Base USSVI displayed the USS Phoenix (SSN-702) float for the Military Day at Mesa Market Place,
Mesa, AZ, on October 19, 2019.
The theme was the remembrance of the Beirut Barracks bombing on October 23, 1983, with a keynote speech by
Rear Admiral James A. Symonds (ret) with honors by the Arizona American Legion POW MIA KIA Honor Guard, one of whom is
a Beirut Barracks bombing survivor.
There was also a presentation by the Buffalo Soldiers of the Arizona Territory and a POW-MIA Table Setting by the Young Marines.
