Perch Base held its Annual Picnic meeting on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Some members from Tautog Base (Casa Grande), White Mountain Base (Snowflake) and Gudgeon Base (Prescott Valley) also joined us.

Richard Kunze and the Holland Club members conducted the Holland Club Induction ceremony. Robb Roberts (Perch Base,) Denny Honodel (Tautog Base,) and Ray Moller (Tautog Base) were inducted. The Holland Club are those USSVI members that have been qualified in submarines for 50 or more years.

Tautog Base (Casa Grande) has held the Traveling Dolphin Plaque since capturing it from Perch Base during the last picnic meeting in 2016. The Dolphin Plaque is captured when at least 3 members, including an officer, of an Arizona Base visit another Base's meeting AND one visiting member tells a Sea Story.
This year, the White Mountain Base challenged Tautog to capture the Traveling Dolphin Plaque during our picnic.
Duane Hughes, the White Mountain Base Commander, Steve Day, the White Mountain Vice Commander, Phil Caster, the White Mountain Chaplain, and Jim Girard, the White Mountain Base Treasurer came to the picnic and Steve told a great sea story, thus capturing the Traveling Dolphin Plaque.
