Perch Base held its Annual Picnic meeting on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Some members from Tautog Base from Casa Grande, White Mountain Base and Gudgeon Base from Prescott Valley also joined us.

Base Commander Chuck Emmett conducted a Holland Club Induction Ceremony for Perch Base members Jim Nelson, Ed Schafer, Jim Mann and Fred Fuller upon 50 years as Qualified in Submarines.

Davy Jones anounced the Naval Submarine League Award award to Chris O'Rourke. Chris has just graduated from ASU and NROTC and has been promoted from Midshipman to Ensign. He is now waiting for his assignment to begin Nuclear Submarine Officer training.

Both Gudgeon Base and Tautog Base challenged to recapture the Dolphin Plaque taken by Perch Base
during their visit to Gudgeon Base's picnic last August. The Dolphin Plaque is captured when at least 3 members, including an officer, of an Arizona
Base visit another Base's meeting AND one visiting member tells a Sea Story.
Bill Larime (Gudgeon Base) and Denny Honodel (Tautog Base) both told great sea stories, but Tautog won the Dolphin Plaque.
