BASE COMMANDER JOB DESCRIPTION

The Base Commander is the Chief Executive of the Base. He is elected, by the Base membership to a two (2) year term. The person in this office may serve two (2)consecutive terms if so re-elected. At the next inauguration of a new Commander, he becomes the Past Base Commander. He may, however, serve additional terms as Commander as long as they are not consecutive. He is a member of, and chairs, both the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. His other duties include:

• Preside over all meetings and activities of the general membership.

• Supervise and audit the performance and activities of all elected and appointed officers and committee chairmen.

• Select and appoint non-elected officers and committee members to responsible positions as necessary and in sufficient numbers to satisfy the needs of the organization, its goals and objectives.

• Act in conjunction with other members of the Executive Board and the Board of Directors in formulating and carrying out national and local organizational policies and procedures.

• Approve or endorse all Perch Base correspondence with all outside entities including the national officers of the USSVI.

• Keep the District Commander and Regional Director informed of Base functions and activities on a regular and routine basis.

• Assign duties and responsibilities to Base officers, committees and members in the conduct of Base operations and functions.

• Serve as the Base representative to the USSVI National Organization.

• Conduct Base operations in accordance with the Base and USSVI Constitution and By Laws and Policies and Procedures Manuals.
