PAST BASE COMMANDER JOB DESCRIPTION

This individual is the immediately preceding Base Commander to the current Administration. He serves until "relieved" by a new ex-Commander. He is a Member of the Executive Board and the Board of Directors.

The Past Base Commander is also a member of the ad hoc committee of existing other ex-commanders that, along with the current Base Commander, shall have the responsibility for selecting the Base's "Sailor of the Year," which is awarded at the annual Awards Banquet. The members of this group are excluded from this award as serving as this Committee's members.

Other duties include:

• Acts as an advisor to the Base Commander.

• May also be assigned to chair various committees (standing and ad hoc).

• Serves as a "technical advisor" to other Base officers on matters related to conduct of Base business.
